Some love stories begin with a swipe, a setup, or a chance encounter. Katherine and Joey's story began on the ski slopes of Arizona.

Although both were living in Scottsdale at the time, it took a mutual friend and a weekend getaway to Flagstaff to bring them together. Invited to stay at a friend's cabin, Katherine and Joey quickly caught each other's attention. Katherine was impressed by Joey's game-night skills, while Joey couldn't take his eyes off Katherine as she effortlessly navigated the slopes. That weekend marked the beginning of a relationship that would eventually lead them all the way to their wedding day.

A Thoughtful Chicago Proposal

When it came time to propose, Joey knew he wanted to make the moment unforgettable—and include the people who mattered most.

He planned a special weekend in Chicago, arranging for both of their parents to be there. Before dinner, Joey suggested a stop at the beautiful Lincoln Park Conservatory, knowing it was somewhere Katherine's mom had always wanted to visit. Surrounded by family, Joey got down on one knee and asked Katherine to marry him.

As if that surprise wasn't enough, Katherine soon discovered that her baby sister and brother-in-law had secretly joined the celebration as well. It was the perfect beginning to the next chapter of their story.

A Ceremony Close to Home

As a Yorkville-area native, Katherine always envisioned getting married at the church she grew up attending. The church ceremony was the moment she and Joey had looked forward to most, and it did not disappoint.

Surrounded by family, friends, and their faith, the couple exchanged vows in a heartfelt ceremony that celebrated not only their love story but also the community that had supported them along the way.

Following the ceremony, Katherine and Joey gathered with their wedding party and family for portraits before heading to Whitetail Ridge for an evening of celebration.

Including Their Four-Legged Family Member

One of the sweetest details from the day was the inclusion of their beloved dog in wedding portraits.

Pets are family too, and Katherine and Joey made sure their furry companion was part of the memories they will treasure for years to come. The photos captured some of the couple's genuine joy and perfectly reflected the relaxed, personal atmosphere they wanted for their wedding day.

A Light and Airy Wildflower-Inspired Reception

When planning their wedding design, Katherine and Joey wanted to embrace the beauty of spring in Illinois.

Their vision was simple: light, airy, and inspired by the wildflowers that begin blooming across the countryside each May. Soft colors, fresh floral details, and elegant touches created a welcoming atmosphere that felt both timeless and seasonal.

As guests arrived at Whitetail Ridge, they were greeted by panoramic golf course views and a reception space filled with warmth, laughter, and anticipation for the evening ahead.

When choosing a reception venue, Katherine and Joey had a few important priorities. They needed a space that could comfortably accommodate their large families, offer beautiful scenery, provide exceptional food and beverage service, and fit within their budget.

After touring Whitetail Ridge, they knew they had found exactly what they were looking for.

Reception Fun with a Personal Twist

One of the things that made Katherine and Joey's reception so memorable was the way they intentionally created opportunities for guest interaction and fun.

A live caricature artist entertained guests throughout the evening, creating personalized keepsakes that everyone loved taking home. The unique addition kept guests engaged and gave them something special to remember from the celebration.

The couple also assigned "table captains" to each reception table. These enthusiastic family members and friends helped energize guests, encourage participation during reception activities, and keep the celebration moving throughout the night. It was a creative idea that brought an extra layer of excitement and connection to the evening.

A Night Full of Celebration

As dinner concluded and the formalities wrapped up, the dance floor quickly became the place to be.

Friends and family celebrated alongside Katherine and Joey, creating the kind of joyful atmosphere every couple hopes for when planning their wedding day. From heartfelt conversations to spontaneous dance moves and endless laughter, the evening reflected exactly who Katherine and Joey are as a couple—fun-loving, family-oriented, and deeply connected to the people around them.
